Herbert: Government has failed Britain's farmers
21 May 2009
The Conservatives criticised the Government today for failing to fight effectively for the interests of Britain’s farmers in Europe. During Parliamentary Questions, Shadow Environment Secretary, Nick Herbert condemned the Government for failing to stand up for Britain on country of origin food labelling, plans to electronically identify sheep, new pesticides rules, and CAP reform.
Mr Herbert said:
“From absurd plans to electronically tag sheep to country of origin food labelling the Government has failed to stand up for British interests in Europe. Our farmers and consumers need Ministers to fight the British corner in Brussels but recent years have been a tale of feebleness and missed opportunities.”
