Herbert urges help for dairy farmers
4 June 2009
Speaking at the Royal Cornwall Show today, Shadow Environment Secretary, Nick Herbert urged banks to be sensitive to the difficulties being experienced by dairy farmers affected by the collapse of Dairy Farmers of Britain.
Nick Herbert, who has today held talks with NFU President Peter Kendall, said:
“This is a matter of real concern. I would urge the banks to stand by our dairy farmers and show some sympathy to the short-term problems they are facing. Everything must be done to help affected farmers find alternative outlets for their milk and get through this immensely difficult period.”
